Five apps that handle the availability list, team picking and collecting money — and which kind of group each one suits.
Prices and features checked on 6 August 2026, on each app's own website.
This comparison is published by FootyPro, which is one of the apps on the list. We wrote it anyway because saying nothing would be worse. Two rules we follow: we only claim about the others what their own site publishes (linked and quoted), and FootyPro's own limitations sit in the table next to everyone else's. Where another app is the better choice, we say so.
Nearly all of them do a list and pick teams. The difference shows up in four places:
First come, first served is the default — and it's what causes the arguments: whoever is on their phone at 8am takes the spot from the bloke who hasn't missed a week since March. Few apps rank by attendance record.
Some process payments (and take a fee for it), others just record who has paid. Neither is better — it's a decision about whether you want a middleman on the kitty.
This is where most groups stall. Half the lads never download it, and the organiser ends up keeping the list in WhatsApp anyway.
Real groups have both. If the app only knows per-match fees, the monthly payer gets charged twice or the guest plays for free — and someone ends up doing sums by hand.
Groups who want stats and banter — fantasy scoring, awards and achievements.
Booking and availability, AI team balancing, fantasy-style player stats and post-match voting, with in-app payments as an option.
Free forever for organisers
· https://caposport.com/
Organisers who want online payments and a public club page.
Availability, auto-balanced teams with a drag-and-drop editor, Stripe payments with guest links, chat and polls. Scales from a weekly kickabout to a grassroots club.
Free for organisers. If you collect online payments, the player sees your price plus a service fee at checkout. Standard platform margin is 10%, capped at £3/€3/$3.
Organised clubs and youth teams, especially with parents to keep in the loop.
Team and club management: recurring events, availability, payments, GDPR-compliant messaging with audit trails and guardian access.
La Mejor App Gratuita
· https://spond.com/
Teams that care most about season-long stats and a proper squad record.
Availability polling, team and player statistics, event invitations and automated communication, for both clubs and groups of mates.
Publishes no price on its site · https://www.sporteasy.net/en/
A fixed weekly game with more players than places, and subs payers mixed with guests.
Places go by attendance record, not by who replies first. Charges per match OR monthly in the same game, and publishes the list, teams and table on an open page players open without installing anything or creating an account.
Free, with an optional Pro plan
· FootyPro
It's free to start. Create your game, paste your WhatsApp list to import the squad, and send the first call-up the same day.
Start my 5-a-side free Or try the team generator, no sign-up →It depends on what's actually breaking in your group. If it's arguments over places, what matters is an attendance-based list. If it's money, what matters is whether the app processes payments or just records them. If half the lads won't install anything, what matters is a public page with no login.
Yes. As checked on this date, Capo states it is free forever for organisers, Squadable is free to organise (fees only apply to online payments), and FootyPro has a free-forever plan, with an optional Pro.
For most of them, yes. FootyPro is the exception here: the list, teams and table pages are open, and players arrive through a link pasted in the group chat.
This is where most apps simplify. FootyPro handles both in one group: whoever pays monthly isn't charged again on the night, and the pay-as-you-go guest is.
They are the ones that surface in English searches for 5-a-side and football organiser apps, plus FootyPro. Every feature and price was checked on the app's own site on the date shown — we did not test the apps internally, and where a vendor publishes no price, we say so.
